Channing Tatum reportedly quit the production of Marvel movie “Gambit”.
According to The Wrap, citing sources inside the production, Channing’s deal to portray his first superhero role is in jeopardy of falling apart as he is plans to leave the 20th Century Fox production.
Director Rupert Wyatt will have to find a new leading man, if the rumors are true, and it is also unclear whether Tatum and his producing partner Reid Carolin will remain as producers or will exit the project entirely, The Wrap added.
Tatum has long shown interest in playing Remy LeBeau, a.k.a. Gambit. He was seen promoting the “X-Men” spin-off at Comic-Con in San Diego earlier this month.
The actor apparently has larger ambitions, according to The Wrap. However, it noted the actor’s representatives are still talking with the 20th Century Fox but also acknowledged that “something is up.”
The “Magic Mike” star has yet to confirm the rumored departure from the “Gambit” production and 20th Century Fox has yet to announce if he will be replaced.
Nonetheless, who are possible actors that could replace Channing as “Gambit?”
Taylor Kitsch played “Gambit” in the 2009 release “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.” Kitsch currently plays a major role on “True Detective” Season 2.
Cinema Blend teases Jared Padalecki as a possible replacement as well.
Padalecki looks almost just like Remy LeBeau and has experience in playing fantasy and mythology character. Padalecki plays Sam Winchester in the CW series “Supernatural”.
However, Cinema Blend noted the problem is that “Supernatural” Season 11 will likely still be shooting when “Gambit” begins filming on October or November. So if ever Padalecki will replace Tatum, the film’s release date would have to be delayed so the production would be viable with Padalecki’s schedule.
“Gambit” is set to be released on October 2016.
