Gal Gadot, the Israeli model turned actress, has already received a lot of attention for the part she pulled off in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
According to several media reports, 88 percent of the audience is saying they are looking forward to her character. Ticket buyers believe Wonder Woman’s debut was the best part of the movie.
Here are five things you didn’t know about the Israeli Wonder Woman.
Gadot was a successful model and won the 2004 Miss Israel competition when she was 18. This was way before she got into acting in movies.
She then completed two years of service in the Israeli Defense Forces. “I definitely have a strong sense of my Jewish and Israeli identity. I did my two-year military service,” she said. “I don’t feel like I’m an ambassador for my country, but I do talk about Israel a lot.”
After military service, she started studying law when she was first discovered by casting directors.
Gadot’s hobbies and interests make her perfect for roles in action movies.
While she was working in “Fast Five,” it was discovered that she is a motorcycle enthusiast. She owns a black 2006 Ducati Monster-S2R.
According to IMDB, she also played on volleyball, basketball, and tennis teams. Since her first mainstream appearance in “Fast & Furious” as Gisele, she did all her stunts for her role in the entire franchise.
Gadot had no knowledge that she was auditioning for the role of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman. She was only aware that she was reading for an upcoming film that Zack Snyder was directing and had Ben Affleck playing the male lead.
In her first audition, she read some dialogue from “Death Proof,” Quentin Tarantino’s segment of “Grindhouse.”
Another Superhero Movie Universe
Gadot was the closest to make her superhero debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There she was one of the top competitors to play Gamora in “Guardians of the Galaxy.”
“Batman v Superman” is to be followed by the Wonder Woman standalone movie, and then the two-part Justice League saga.
Gadot is a Wonder Woman in real life. While being a former model, pageant winner and former military, she’s also a mother.
According to Kveller, she is married to an Israeli man named Yaron Varsano. They have a 4-year-old daughter named Alma.
She and her family live in Tel Aviv.
