After the success of the movie “Frozen,” Director Chris Buck revealed some details about the highly anticipated sequel, “Frozen 2.”
During a special screening of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Shorts Collection last August 9, Buck told MTV News that they have already started working on the sequel.
“Jen [Lee] and I are just getting back into the story room together and throwing ideas around. We have an overall idea, a concept, which I think is a very strong one. I’m very excited about doing it,” Buck said, referring to the sequel.
“After the feature, and because of how it was received, we were all overwhelmed by the ’Frozen’ phenomenon.”
The director also hinted that “Frozen 2” will aim to “tackle issues” and “influence” young people thru its story.
“We will keep that going in the next one. We will tackle other issues that, I think, are out there today that boys and girls, men and women, are dealing with,” he said.
“I think we’re very aware of what is happening in society…When the kids [watch the movie], they watch them over and over again, and if we don’t have a decent message in there, I think we’ve missed an opportunity.”
In another interview with Fandango, the director said that they will be putting more fun in Elsa’s character.
“[In Frozen] she had such a dramatic journey, and at the end she’s just starting to feel like she can open up and have some fun again. That’s what was really good about the short — we could have fun with Elsa. And that personality… you will see in the next one,” he revealed.
While Buck did not reveal much about “Frozen 2”, there are have been reports about the story line of the much awaited movie.
Meanwhile, the 7-minute short film entitled “Frozen Fever”, one of Walt Disney Animation Studios Short Films Collection, was released last August 11 in Digital HD and Disney Movies and will be available on Blu-ray this August 18.
