Anticipation over “Frozen 2” is at an all-time high as fans scramble for information about it. However, the recent remark from actress Idina Menzel might send some over the icy edge.
A joke shared by Menzel with E! News could likely give fans young and old alike of the Disney animated hit nightmares.
“We are at story writing and they’re working on it and I think I’m in it. That’s all I know—unless maybe Elsa falls off an ice cliff and she dies in the first five minutes,” the actress told Marc Malkin of the publication. Fortunately, it was a joke, the publication confirmed.
The alternative would certainly disappoint many fans of the Disney animated hit, young and old alike, Hello Giggles noted. However, her quip at “Frozen 2” could suggest she’s “tired of singing ‘Let It Go,’” Pop Sugar surmised. The joke is just the latest in a string of theories that aims to uncover the sequel’s story line.
Of late, sources revealed that fans want to see Elsa gain a love interest in the sequel with Olaf as a likely candidate. The first theory suggested of his transformation into human form based on reports that the sequel will feature his life story. The second theory posited Olaf’s snowman form was a curse and he returns to his original human form to be her lover.
“Frozen 2” fans earlier urged Disney to give Elsa a female lover via a Twitter campaign that received notable support. Idina Menzel earlier expressed her reaction to the matter that would suggest her support for the idea although it also earned the ire of certain sectors opposed to the idea.
“I think it’s great, Disney’s just gotta contend with that. I’ll let them figure that out,” Menzel told ET Online last May.
However, it’s also likely the sequel could focus on Anna’s character since Elsa overcame her struggles in the first movie, Movie News Guide wrote. This might coincide with Menzel’s statement of “I think I’m in it,” which could suggest fewer scenes for her character.
