French Open 2016 is closing in fast on the semi-finals round.
With Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams battling it out for the coveted spots in the semi-finals, the two World No 1 served up and relayed massive swings for Day 12 quarter finals.
Novak Djokovic vs Tomas Berdych
World No 1 Djokovic played against Tomas Berdynch in the Philippe-Chatrier Court for the semi-final spot.
Although Berdych is clearly the underdog, with 23 losses handed to him by Djokovic, he has had the better of the Serb in Wimbledon on 2010.
The Czech does his best to give Novak a hard time but misses the beat, ending with four unforced errors midgame. Close to winning the second set, Tomas is set back by the World No 1 with two points. As predicted, Novak Djokovic owned the game with 6-3 7-5 6-3 triumph against Tomas Berdych.
Not only does his victory put another point towards Djokovic, it also catapults him into his 30th Grand Slam Semi-Final. The Serb may be on to something else, too. If Novak Djokovic reclaims the French Open title, he will go down in history holding all four major tennis titles, Roland Garros notes.

Serena Williams vs Yulia Putintseva
Meanwhile, Serena Williams has had to make Yulia finally lose to nothing but the World’s No 1. The young Kazakh stepped into the quarter finals with a successful record.
Roland Garros picks it up as a battle of 21s, with Serena coming with 21 Grand Slam titles to her name playing against young and spirited 21-year old Yulia. A few minutes before 4:00PM, the battle of the 21s had to be halted due to a short shower. However, the action picked up after a short while.
It seems the 21-year-old is up for a fight with Queen Serena on the red clay courts. With Yulia obtaining a first set victory, Serena was scared for quite sometime that she might not get her semi-final slot, The Guardian reports.
However, Serena did a quick turnaround but still had to work hard for every point she gained. The young Kazakh definitely gave 200% but that still wasn’t enough for her to win against Serena.
Serena goes into the semi-finals with a 5-7 6-4 6-1 victory.
