Frank Ocean was expected to roll-out his new album “Boys Don’t Cry” by the end of July, as was promised. But it’s already September and there still has been no word from the artist, and fans are now wondering whether the album will ever be released.
As it turns out, the album being delayed may not be the only issue. According to The Verge, the artist himself has been conspicuous by his absence at recent engagements and fans have shared their concern across social media platforms. The Verge stated, “People are starting to get worried about the location and well-being of Mr. Ocean.”
For those not in the know, Ocean had skipped the FYF Fest where he was expected to make an appearance.
As had been reported by Entertainment Weekly, Ocean’s publicist released this statement: “We’re really sorry that due to a scheduling conflict beyond our control, Frank Ocean is not going to be able to appear at FYF Festival as planned. Frank had really been looking forward to the performance and to seeing all of his fans, so it is with great regret that we announce this cancellation.”
However, a ray of hope comes from the confirmation by one of Ocean’s collaborator who shared with Bet details about recording with the artist for a new album.
“Ocean invited me to Abbey Road to record on his album,” Christophe Chassol revealed.
”I asked him how he heard about me. He told me his friend Diplo was listening a lot to [my album] ‘Indiamore’, and they started to listen to it, and they were wondering how I was doing the speech harmonization, so he called me. He asked me to do some speech harmonization on a song with him.”
There is no official word on whether or not the song was recorded for “Boys Don’t Cry”, looks like fans will have to wait a bit longer for Ocean to appear on the scene and share some updates on the album.
