Fifth Harmony dropped their latest hit, “Work From Home,” on Feb 26. The track quickly made its way at No. 12 in the Billboard Hot 100. Amidst the success of their single and the people’s anticipation of their sophomore album, 7/27, Latina member Camila Cabello had an ample time to spare. Hence, she dropped some amazing acoustic covers. Could this be the start of the split rumours again?
Cabello uploaded a new video on her YouTube account as she performed a medley of Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late single “Energy” and Rihanna’s smash hit “Work” in an unplugged version. The two-minute clip was uploaded on March 14 and got more that 70k views so far.
The 19-year-old singer apparently dropped a hit with Shawn Mendes, titled “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” As it turned out, her accidental duet with the Canadian singer created a buzz among Harmonizers that she will be leaving the group.
“They turned me (doing the song) into a conspiracy theory. We literally just wrote a song backstage & it ended up becoming something awesome. It wasn’t a career move that I carefully planned out,” she explained, as quoted from Inquistr.
On the other hand, Idolator notes that just like Normani Kordei and her solo rendition of Tory Lanez’ “Say It,” the brunette beauty just wanted to extract “her creative juices” outside her group. Notably, Kordei reiterated that Fifth Harmony will part ways but they want to make sure that the group will become successful in their dreams.
“In the beginning, we all had intentions of pursuing solo careers. I’m still an individual, as well as the others, meaning we have slightly different visions and aspirations,” Kordei told Cliche magazine. “We have a ton of work [to do] and much more to accomplish as Fifth Harmony before that happens,” she added.
