‘Fast and Furious 8’ Movie: Paul Walker Returns as CGI? Mia Toretto Returns to Sequel

Furious 8

“Fast and Furious” star Jordana Brewster has yet to confirm if she will reprise her role in the next installment of the franchise.

In an interview with Huffington Post Live, Jordana was asked if she will be coming back as Mia Torrento in “Fast and Furious 8”.

“I don’t know [if I’d do another film], but it’s always dependent on the fans. If they want one and if there’s an appetite for it. We never want to jump the shark!” the actress said.

Should Jordana reprise her role, Paul Walker’s character may also come back and possibly with the use of CGI.

In the previous “Fast and Furious” movies, Walker portrayed Mia’s love interest, Brian O’Connor. Some scenes of “Furious 7” were played by Paul’s brother, Cody Walker, after the actor died in a tragic car crash in 2013. At the time, “Fast and Furious 7” was half-way through and Paul’s brother stood in for him, while his other scenes were created with the help of CGI.

It was previously reported that “Fast and Furious 8” will be a tribute to Walker. Paul’s character was last seen in “Furious 7” bidding his goodbye to the world of fast cars to start his own family with Mia.

“Fast and Furious” stars Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, and Dwayne Johnson have already confirmed their return, Enstarz wrote.

Diesel also confirmed that F. Gary Gray has been tapped to direct the eighth installment of the franchise.

Diesel, during his recent appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” added that for the first time the sequel is going to be filmed in New York City. Previous sequels of the movie were set outside the United States.

The actor, who played Dom Torrento, was also asked if he and Paramount Pictures had any plan to do three more sequels. The actor replied, “A trilogy, yes.”

The first part of the “Fast and Furious 8” trilogy will be released on April 14, 2017.
