A lot of speculations and rumors surround whether Paul Walker will be seen in some way in the much-talked about “Fast and Furious 8.” There is no denying that fans are really hoping to see Walker’s presence on this installment of the franchise.
It was while “Fast and Furious 7” was in production that actor Paul Walker passed away in a car accident that happened off-set. There were talks of cancelling the movie, before it was decided that the movie would be completed in the memory of the actor who has stolen many hearts, by using CGI and body doubles.
For all those fans who are hoping that they would get to see Walker in the up-coming installment is some way, NBC Universal Vice-Chairman, Ron Meyer revealed that the star will definitely be “represented” in some way in the movie. He told Variety, “Paul won’t be in it, but he’ll be represented in some form or another but whether his image is in it, I can’t tell you yet, but he won’t be in the film as a performer, as an actor, the way we did it last time.”
Universal Pictures Chairman Donna Langley hinted at expanding the series which set off word about a possible spin-off, however Meyer made no comments on whether a prequel or a spin-off is in the plans.
However, star Vin Diesel shared with Variety, “We’ve written out story lines for various characters. We’ve been playing with it for a long time. It’s a very rich property and we’re committed to treating it with a lot of class.” While he did not say a peep about whether any of the characters would get their standalone films, but as Variety noted, it appeared from Langely’s comments that the studio would probably be willing to support a project, if the actor is game to build on the “Fast and Furious” universe.
And given that the spin-off predictions are doing the rounds for quite some time now, Entertainment Weekly even suggested a possible Shaw Brothers movie, which would definitely be quite interesting.
