Paul Walker’s sudden death has created a huge hole on the “Fast and Furious” movie franchise, but the production team was able to make a smooth exit for his character, Brian O’Conner. However, it isn’t clear whether O’Conner will be back or not until the latest report stated that O’Conner will not be part of the “Fast and Furious 8.”
NBC Universal Vice Chairman Ron Meyer revealed in an interview with Variety that the upcoming car chasing film might be “without Walker.” “I can’t tell you yet, but he won’t be in the film as a performer, as an actor, the way we did it last time. It will still be ‘Fast and Furious,’ it will just be without Paul.”
Following the statement is a news that Lucas Black will allegedly replace Walker as Vin Diesel’s new buddy, notes Cinema Blend. He was first introduced in “Fast and Furious 3: Tokyo Drift.” Rumor has it that he will be reprising his role as Sean Boswell who will allegedly have a bigger role like Dominic Toretto’s partner on the much-awaited film.
More than the cast, the reports claimed that the team had commenced filming. It has been reported earlier the there will be some scenes that will be taken in Iceland while the production is apparently under negotiations with the Cuban government as one of the film’s locations.
“Universal Pictures is currently in the process of seeking approval from the United States and Cuban governments to explore shooting a portion of the next installment of the ‘Fast & Furious’ series in Cuba,” as quoted in another Variety report.
Apart from the settings, the promo title, poster and official release date for “Fast and Furious 8,” along with the next two films, have been unveiled as well by Vin Diesel via social media. Check out the posts below:
