The cast of the next “Fast and Furious” installment just keeps getting bigger. Actor Scott Eastwood has recently been tapped to join “Fast 8.” Has the actor really been cast to play Paul Walker’s brother in the movie?

According to Entertainment Weekly, Eastwood did sign a deal to appear in the next “Fast and Furious” film. But the actor will not portray Walker’s brother in the series. “I can’t say too much…but I get to play a new character…in the movie,” the “Suicide Squad”  actor explained on Instagram.

That does not lessen the actor’s excitement for his new role, though. “It’s hard to put into words how excited I am for the next Fast and Furious,” he wrote. “To me, the series is so much more than just a franchise. It’s a legacy. These great actors who have been in it together for so long have become a family. I absolutely can’t wait to join it.”

The actor may not be playing Walker’s brother in “Fast 8.” But Eastwood did say the former “Fast and Furious” star was like an older brother to him. “Paul was a close friend of mine. We surfed together, traveled together, and he was a huge role model and influencing figure in my life when I was younger. He still is. He was an older brother to me. For me to be able to add to the F&F story, Paul’s story and the FAST family is like a dream come true,” he said. Walker died in 2013. “Furious 7” was his last movie.

Eastwood is not the only actor whose casting was confirmed this week. According to Deadline, actress Charlize Theron will also be joining the “Fast 8” cast. The “Mad Max: Fury Road” actress reportedly made the deal last week.
