FX releases “Fargo” Season 2 official trailer and it features a whole new cast of characters.

The trailer opens with young Police Officer Lou Solverson and his father-in-law, Sheriff Hank Larsson, finding several dead bodies in a diner.

Nick Offerman then said, “That’s how it starts, with something small, like a break-in at the Watergate Hotel. But this thing’s only getting bigger,” Time magazine reported. Offerman portrays the role of town lawyer, Karl Weathers.

“Fargo” season 2 is a prequel that brings back the Midwest singsong accents which fans got hooked into.  The prequel is set in the late 1970s in in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Luverne, Minnesota.

Kirsten Dunst and Patrick Wilson are in the lead roles along with Ted Danson, Jean Smart, and Jesse Plemons. Three-time Emmy winner Brad Garrett also joins the cast, as well as Elizabeth Marvel, Jeffrey Donovan, CristinMilioti, Kieran Culkin, and Bokeem Woodbine.

Wilson will play young Lou Solverson, a Vietnam veteran-turned-police-officer who is investigating a local crime gang.  Wilson’s character investigates lawless elements while getting tasked to protect Ronald Reagan (played by Bruce Campbell) during his campaign stop in Fargo, E! Online reported.

Slash Film said Solverson, who was played by Keith Carradine in the first season, will still be at the center of the second installment.

Dunst will play Peggy Blumquist, a small town beautician who, together with her husband Ed (Jesse Plemons), gets mixed up in the violence between a local crime family and a new syndicate moving in from out of state, the Rolling Stone wrote.

Garrett portrays Joe Bulo, the front man for the northern expansion of a Kansas City crime syndicate.

The 10-episode anthology miniseries will premiere FX in October.

Fargo season one has been critically acclaimed. It won two awards – Best Original Screenplay and Best Actress in a Leading Role – at the Academy Awards.
