Liverpool are all set to play their first FA Cup clash of the season against Exeter City. Liverpool will play Exeter in the round 3 of the FA Cup on Friday, Jan. 8, at the St. James Park in Devonshire starting 7.55 PM GMT.
As per the This is Anfield reports, 12 players won’t be available for Liverpool duty as the “injury crisis” worsens at Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp will find it hard to find the right combination and gather his playing XI against Exeter.
Speaking about the FA Cup and his next opponents Klopp exclaimed, “The FA Cup is a big tournament for sure. I have big respect for it.”
“We watched Exeter yesterday, we know that they’re a good team. I heard the dressing room is quite small. Maybe we should not spend too much time in there and go out and play football!
“The team which plays tomorrow will want to win this game 100% but it will be a team that didn’t play too often together.”
According to the BBC, Right-back Christian Ribeiro and midfielder David Noble might be available for the upcoming clash. Philippe Coutinho will still be out due to injury.
The fixture so far has been tiring for Liverpool. They expect a tricky tie on Friday at St. James Park.
Both teams have clashed six times prior to their encounter on Friday. Exeter City haven’t tasted victory against the Reds as they look to take the first opportunity to register a win.
Paul Tisdale’s side has been erratic with their performances so far. They are currently placed in the 16th place in the fourth tier as per the reports.
Tisdale commented before the match, “We are not just looking to sit back and hold on. I don’t want to do that.
“I think we need to have some intent about us. I don’t think we should hold back and wait for the game to happen.”
