The Euro 2016 Semi-finals round is here. Portugal was the first to qualify. Meanwhile Wales shocked Belgium and everyone, when they beat crowd favorites’ Belgium. The question is: will Wales be able to rise over Portugal’s dirty tactics or will Portugal lose to Wales’ team spirit? Read on and find out our Euro 2016 Semi-Finals prediction for the match.

Portugal

Portugal has come from behind in this Euro 2016 tournament. With a rather disappointing group stage turnout, Portugal has come back from the dying and went on a no holds barred strategy to win. As Ronaldo was targeted by Polish defenders in the quarter finals, Portugal saw a key player arise in the person of 18-year old Renato Sanches.

Talking to UEFA, Ronaldo sees facing Wales the same as facing Belgium.

“Wales have had an excellent tournament. Our objective was for Portugal to win. I want to congratulate my colleagues, our coach and technical team; we all did a fantastic job. Now on to the next opponent who we will prepare for and we will give our all,” Ronaldo added with determination.

Wales

Coming from hard earned win against crowd favorites Belgium, Wales with their cinderella antics have triumphed over Belgium. However, the question remains as to whether they can still count on that as they face Portugal in the semi-finals round. However, it seems Chris Coleman is determined to take it one step at a time.

“Now the next one is Portugal. I promise you my players and staff won’t be thinking about winning this tournament. They’ll be thinking about Portugal,” he shared with UEFA.

As for now, Wales needs to be wary of whittling their team down due to bookings.

Euro 2016 Semi-Finals Prediction: Portugal vs Wales

We’re on the fence on this one. Portugal have remained calm and relied on their draw specialties to win most of their Euro 2016 games. Their quarter final round saw them rely more on pressuring the other side, thus bringing them to penalties and proceeding to the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Wales plays with their A game and thrives on last minute goals for the win.

If Wales wants to win, they must bring in the goals and bring them in early. If the match goes to the penalties, calm headed Portugal may bag themselves another important victory.

Though Wales are on their best behavior in the field, our Euro 2016 Semi-finals prediction is for experienced Portugal winning the match.
