Tottenham Hotspur will be pitched against second placed Leicester at the White Hart Lane Stadium in their English Premier League campaign this Wednesday, Jan. 13, starting at 8 PM local time.
As per the BBC reports, Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris, Erik Lamela and Jan Vertonghen are expected to be in the starting line-up for Tottenham.
The most valuable player of the tournament so far, Jamie Vardy, is expected to return in the upcoming clash after suffering a minor groin injury. He went under the knife last week and will return for Leicester this week.
Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri commented before the match, ”I think this will be a completely different game [from Sunday] because I will change some of the players.
“This is a crazy Premier League season and we will fight to achieve the maximum, but we will take it step-by-step.”
Tottenham continues to extend their sublime form in the season. They are now undefeated in the last five premier league meetings with three wins and two draws. Leicester’s rusty performance might become an issue in the upcoming clash. They haven’t scored a goal in the last three games.
Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino did talk about potential January signings. He was quoted as saying, ”The market is very difficult in winter and our power is in the changing room, in the squad, the team. It’s not about one name, one player more or less.”
“It’s important to find the right player who can help us. That player will come, but if he doesn’t it’s not a big worry for me.”
“I can understand people are concerned we need one striker more, but we are very confident in following the same direction as the first half of the season.”
As per the SB Nation reports, Tottenham are currently placed at number four in the league standings.
