Liverpool host Manchester City in their English Premier League campaign at the Anfield Stadium in Liverpool on Wednesday, March 2, starting 8 PM GMT.
This seems to be the perfect platform for Liverpool to avenge last week’s Capital One Cup final defeat against arch rivals Manchester City. As per the This is Anfield reports, Sunday’s “penalty shootout loss was tough to take for everyone associated with Liverpool Football Club, as a wonderful chance to win a first piece of silverware in four years passed Jurgen Klopp‘s side by.”
Manchester City are sitting at the fourth spot now on the EPL Chart and are 10-points behind the table toppers Leicester City. However, Liverpool will bank on their home support to gain three points out of the upcoming clash to make it to the top six in the league rankings.
Lucas Leiva and Daniel Sturridge have been sidelined due to injuries. Klopp exclaimed before the match, “It doesn’t look too good for Lucas, he won’t be available. We had problems with the muscle, when he shot the penalty.
“He’s got some more problems, so he’s not available, We have to wait, but I don’t think so.
“Daniel with the cramps. We don’t want to risk [him for] tomorrow. But if he’s available, he’s available. You will see the lineup tomorrow!”
According to the Team Talk reports, Raheem Sterling will be starting proceedings for City in the upcoming clash. Manuel Pellegrini was quoted as saying, “I don’t know what the starting XI will be yet, but one player who I’m sure will start is Raheem Sterling. He’s a young man, a young player starting his career, but he knows how to deal with pressure.”
