England 95-run thumping victory over Pakistan has surely boosted their confidence. After a disastrous test series and losing the first ODI in Abu Dhabi, Eoin Morgan blamed his batsmen for the poor show. But things changed quickly as Alex paved the way for a terrific second game win with his maiden ODI century.
Neutralizing Yasir Shah was one of the major factors which led the England Batsmen to gain an upper hand on Pakistan’s bowling. The slow track of Sharjah is likely to favor spin bowling which means that English batsmen will have to give in a little extra effort to read the spin from the other end.
Joe Root has been in prime form while Moeen Ali is yet to make a difference in the whole tour. English Batting looks balanced at this moment while LE Plunkett has been fairly good in the pace department.
Younis Khan’s sudden retirement from International Cricket will definitely affect team chemistry in the dressing room. Even, Pakistan’s coach, Waqar Younis, criticized the wrongly timed retirement.
But Waqar remains positive about the next challenge. The ESPN CricInfo quoted him as saying, “England bounced back and bounced back well. We probably were not thinking that they are going to play that well and now we have to play out of our skins to make it 2-1.”
