After a successful ODI series, England looked to repeat their performance in the three match T20 International series in Dubai as they launched their T20 campaign on Thursday. England will take on Pakistan again in the second T20 International at the Dubai International Stadium on Friday, Nov. 27.
England took the lead in the three match T20 series as they registered a win over Pakistan by 14 runs. England looked shaky in the beginning but soon gained control over the Pakistani bowling attack.
England won the toss and decided to bat first; setting a total of 160 runs on board. Pakistan collapsed in the run chase as their batting looked horrendous right from the start, notes the Tribune. Umar Akmal’s run out was disappointing as Pakistan’s top order perished to suicidal shot selection. Even Shahid Afridi didn’t impress with his bowling.
Sam Billings scored a magnificent 25-ball 53 with five fours and two sixes to resurrect England in the match as Captain Eoin Morgan scored 45 runs off 38 balls from the opposite end. Sam Billings was awarded the Man of the Match.
Billings was quoted as saying, “I loved it. Nice to make a contribution. You must back your options. You have to take the opportunity when you get.”
It would be interesting to note how things unfold in the second T20 international. England should stick to their winning ways as Pakistan might need to bring a few changes to tackle their current situation.
