Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portio De Rossi finally revealed the secret of their stronger relationship – a kid.
The couple introduced to the world their new bunch of joy, a nine-month-old puppy named “Kid.”
Ellen shared a photo of the smooch to the audience of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Thursday. The image showed a small brown and black-furred dog of undetermined breed.
“Portia and I got a puppy and his name is Kid, so now we have a kid,” she revealed to her audience.
DeGeneres said she named the new addition to her family “Kid” because of frequent speculation that she and De Rossi may adopt a child of their own, ABC News wrote.
“I named him Kid because… there’s been rumors forever, when are you and Portia going to have a kid? And so now I can say…we have a Kid,” the host said.
DeGeneres added she now appreciates more what it’s like to be a mom.
“He’s absolutely adorable. He’s 9 weeks old and cute as can be, but I’ll tell you what’s not cute is to wake up at 11, and 1, and 3 and 5. And then 5 is when he’s up, up. I’m trying to hold a puppy while I’m trying to make coffee. And I can’t do anything. He doesn’t let me do anything,” she joked.
Ellen also used the story to caution her DJ on the show, Stephen “tWitch” Boss, who is expecting his first child with “Dancing With the Stars” pro Allison Holker this year, Entertainment Tonight noted.
“He’s got so much energy so I’m just warning you right now. When you have — well when Allison has that baby — you’re gonna be so tired,” Ellen said.
Kid is joining Ellen and Portia’s five other household pets – three cats and two dogs, named Augie and Wolf. Ellen said Kid is still adapting to their other pets and quipped, “They’re teaching him a lot.”
DeGeneres and de Rossi married in August 2008 and speculations of trouble in their marriage have been surfacing quite often in the last few years. There have been rumors that Portia wants to have a child and has undergone several IVF treatment. She reportedly even suggested adoption to Ellen but the host was allegedly not ready to take the step.
