Ed Sheeran Cancels Australia & NZ Concert? Needs Surgery for Burst Eardrum

Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran revealed that he will undergo an operation on his ear soon.

The British singer said his eardrum ruptured after he leaped from a yacht into the sea during a holiday vacation in Spain with friends earlier this year.

Ed told Australian Radio station Nova FM: “I have to have an operation in January on my ear because I stupidly jumped off a yacht really high up and smashed it. That was on holidays and I didn’t realize what happened until I went in water again and it’s the most painful thing having a hole in your ear drum and having water go in.”

However, Ed’s burst eardrum does not mean that he needs to cancel his remaining shows in Australia and New Zealand this week since he already nearing the end of his tour, Metro noted.

According to The Sun, Ed Sheeran’s 179-day tour, which began in August 2014, will end this weekend (Dec 12).

Ed’s fans should not be worried too since the “Thinking Out Loud” hitmaker himself is not too concern about his upcoming surgery. Sheeran pointed out that he will be glad to spend the time recuperating back home.

“I have to go and get a graft, which means I’m not allowed to fly for a while, so it’s kind of good. It means I have to stay at home,” said Ed.

Sheeran previously told The Sun that he will be taking an extended break from music after his tour.

Although he is currently trying to avoid flying, Ed Sheeran will be taking a long flight from New Zealand back to the UK when his X Tour finally ends this weekend.

The singer also revealed that he had other injuries while on tour.

“I just tried to open a beer bottle, you know how you can open beer bottles with lighters? So I tried to do that with another beer bottle and it just kind of shattered in my hand.”
