Drake, the Toronto based rapper, announced that his latest album “VIEWS” has officially gone gold. During a listening party for his soundscape, in his hometown Friday night, Drake shared that an estimate of 630,000 copies of “VIEWS” have been sold.
This latest album is Drake’s fourth studio album. “VIEWS” broke the records made by previous albums like “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” (535,000) and “What A Time To Be Alive” (375,000) in first week sales.
While talking to the attendees at the packed venue, the Toronto native said he had received a text message saying that 630,000 records were sold in one night.
“That’s the first time I’ve ever done that sh*t, so thank you very much.” Drake said.
Earlier it was reported that Beyoncé is likely to make Billboard chart history. But she won’t have sole claim over it for long, says IBT.
According to industry forecasts, it has been suggested that Drake’s most anticipated album, “VIEWS,” which came out on Friday, could fire itself up.
It could move up to four times as many units as “Lemonade” over the next week. This would give Drake the top spot and his own sixth consecutive No. 1 album.
His first five full-length albums all reached at No. 1 on Billboard’s album charts. This could certainly signify that he’s in line to share that difference with Beyoncé very soon.
The “Controlla” rapper is being counted upon to make history with this album. He’s also on the move to create magic in the studio again with fellow artist Kanye West.
He had disclosed that he’s preparing to head back into the lab with Yeezy. This was revealed during an interview with Zane Lowe, says Vibe.
“We have a few things that we’ve worked on. It’s all about finding a place for it. ‘Ye is one of my favorite people in the world … I hope we get some more music out,” he said.
He also said that he and Yeezy were supposed to do a mixtape, album together.
