Drake has just broke Adele’s UK record for the most single streams in a week with his new album, “Views from the 6.”
Drake has dethroned Adele for the most played single in a week in the United Kingdom after his track “One Dance” climbed to more than 7 million plays in seven days. “One Dance” also grabbed the number one spot on the Canadian Billboard Hot 100.
According to NME, the Official Charts Company has confirmed that the song was played 7.8 million times in the past seven days. It broke the record held by Adele’s “Hello,” which recorded up 7.32 million streams in its first week of release in October 2015.
Adele’s latest album, “25,” also sold 3.4 million copies in the US in its first week, making it the fastest-selling album of all time. The singer is currently on her “25” world tour.
Meanwhile, Drake has also sold more than 600,000 copies on iTunes in 24 hours since the album became available last Friday. The sales also put “Views from the 6” ahead of Beyoncé’s “Lemonade,” which is expected to reach around 700,000 by the end of the week.
According to Independent, the Canadian singer has surpassed his career-best as well. His last album, “Nothing Was The Same,” sold 658,000 copies in the US in its first week.
A video shared on Instagram by Chart News confirmed Drake’s career milestone. In the video, Drizzy was seen celebrating the success of his album in his home city, Toronto.
Drake’s new album was released exclusively on Apple Music last week. Drizzy has also shared the full tracklist of his album and had a Global Listening Party last week. You can download “Views From the 6” tracklist here.
“Views from the 6” includes collaborations with Rihanna and the 2015 smash hit “Hotline Bling.” It also includes “Pop Style” featuring Jay Z and Kanye West.
“Views from the 6” is exclusively available on Apple Music and iTunes until 6 May.
