“Downton Abbey” Season 6 is gearing for a big season finale, which is also its Christmas Special episode.
A trailer for the special has been released and it hinted that there will be at least one character that will be leaving the PBS period drama and there are some who will come back.
The teaser showed Thomas Barrow (Rob James-Collier) is leaving his job at Downton. Everyone are sad to see him leave, even George (Oliver/Zac Barker) asks him not to go.
“I arrived as a boy. I leave as a man,” Barrow was heard saying.

An exchange in the trailer between Mr. Carson (Jim Carter) and Robert (Hugh Bonneville) revealed that change is coming in Downton Abbey.
Robert tells Carson: “I hope you’re not too unhappy about the way things have turned out…” Carson replies, “The world is a different place to the way it was, my Lord, and Downton must change with it.”
Lady Edith may be devastated when she never got her happy ending with Bertie Pelham. However, Movie Pilot noted that since the filming for the Christmas special took place at Alnwick Castle, it suggests that viewers may certainly be seeing Bertie again.
Lady Mary, played by Michelle Dockery, was also seen saying goodbye to a friend in the promo video for the season finale.
Meanwhile, the trailer also featured a glimpse of some characters who will return in the sixth season, despite being absent last year.
Tom Branson (Allen Leech) is featured in a couple of scenes, while Lady Rose (Lily James) is seen kissing her husband toward the end of the video. Branson will return before the finale episode, while Rose will only appear in the Christmas special, the International Business Times reported.
The final episode of “Downton Abbey” airs on Christmas Day at 8:45 p.m. on ITV. In the U.S., Season 6 will premiere on January 3, 2016 on PBS, while the Christmas special will air on March 6.
