Warning. Potential spoilers ahead.
According to Den Of Geek, stars
Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman are returning this season as well as actress Michelle Gomez.
Episode 1 will have two parts: “The Magician’s Apprentice”, which premieres on Sept. 19; and “The Witch’s Familiar” to be shown a week after.
Here is the Part 1 synopsis:
“Trapped and alone in a terrifying Dalek city, the Doctor is at the heart of an evil Empire; no sonic, no TARDIS, nobody to help. With his greatest temptation before him, can the Doctor resist? And will there be mercy?”
Sounds exciting, isn’t it? As for the “The Witch’s Familiar” synopsis, viewers will still have to wait for it to be revealed.
Aside from the previews, “Doctor Who” screenwriter Steven Moffat also provided bits of preview for the series, as Digital Spy noted.
Capaldi, who has been reintroduced twice, could be “all of [the Doctor] – he can do all the things.”
The site has something to say as well about “The Magician’s Apprentice.”
“From his very first scene in ‘The Magician’s Apprentice’ though, Capaldi maintains that difficult balancing act of clearly tipping the hat to his predecessors while also bringing something unmistakably his own to the part,” Digital Spy explained.
Meanwhile, Jenna Coleman’s role as Clara has reportedly transformed to being a “heroine dependent on Doctor Who,” as she knows the Doctor’s secrets and tricks.
Michelle Gomez’ character as Missy could be having more screen time on Season 9, compared from the past seasons.
The series premieres in BBC One this Sept. 19
