Whoniverse fans can’t wait to see episode 1 of “Doctor Who” season 9 as it returns to TVs on September. So far, rumors and reports have not been scarce and we have a complete lowdown of the who, what, when and where in the upcoming season.

Episode 1 Title & Plot

After airing the Christmas special “Last Christmas” in December 2014, the TV series will return on Autumn with a two-part season premiere. Episode 1 is confirmed to be titled “The Magician’s Apprentice” and episode 2 is “The Witch’s Familiar.”

Steven Moffat also confirmed that Michelle Gomez who plays Missy will return in series 9, even after an apparent death in the season 8 finale.

“Everybody hide – Michelle Gomez as Missy was an instant hit last year, so she’s straight back to plague the Doctor and Clara in the series opener. But what brings her back into their lives is the last thing they’d expect,” Moffat revealed as quoted by Radio Times.

‘Doctor Who’ Season 9 Air Date

BBC has confirmed that the new season will start airing in autumn of this year. Another report by Cultbox says the series will air on September. The report quoted show producer Nikki Wilson tweeting “We’ll be back in September.” The tweet, however, has since been deleted.

Cast & Guest Stars

Den of Geek confirms that “Game of Thrones” star Paul Kaye will be joining Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman in the first two episodes of the series. He will be playing a character named Prentis.

Aside from Michelle Gomez, Joivan Wade is also returning as Rigsy, the graffiti artist who helped the doctor and Clara against the Boneless. BBC America also confirmed Jemma Redgrave will return as Kate Stewart and Ingrid Oliver as Osgood.
