‘Doctor Who’ Season 9 Cast Joins ‘Lego Movie 2’? Details Here

Definitely everything will be awesome for the fans of the “Lego Movie” and “Doctor Who.”

“Lego Movie 2” director Rob Schrab hinted that the Doctor from “Doctor Who” may appear in the sequel of “Lego Movie.”

Schrab revealed, in the recent episode of Community-creator Dan Harmon’s Harmontown Podcast, that both Warner Bros. and BBC are working on a deal to get the Doctor in the animated film.

IGN quoted Schrab as saying: “I’m talking to the BBC on Thursday…there’s a certain character that the BBC owns, and they’re asking me if it would be possible…” One podcast member then cut in and asked if is it “Doctor Who,” to which Schrab replied with a raised eyebrow, IGN described.

The director did not give further details of the deal or how significant the role the Doctor would play or if there are other “Doctor Who” characters being eyed to appear in the movie.

ScreenCrush noted that whether it is a cameo appearance or a full-fledged role, the Doctor would be a great help to Emmet and the gang in “Lego Movie” part two.

The Doctor in BBC’s “Doctor Who” season nine is being played by Peter Capaldi.

Some prominent characters from different franchises, such as DC and Star Wars, appeared in 2014 “Lego Movie.”

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are returning to write the screenplay for the upcoming sequel with Michelle Morgan and Jared Stern.

Lord and Miller are also the duo behind the “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs,” “21 Jumpstreet,” and its sequel “22 Jump Street” last year. The two are also set to direct the still untitled Han Solo standalone movie.

According to IGN, Lord and Miller are the only director with two movies that are in the list of top 10 highest-grossing movies of 2014 – “Lego Movie” with $468 million gross ticket sales and “22 Jump Street,” which earned $319 million worldwide.

The “Lego Movie 2” hits theaters on May 18, 2018.

Meanwhile, the Doctor is also featured in the recently released “LEGO Dimensions” videogame, which features Capaldi’s voice.

According to ComicBook, the first ever “LEGO Doctor Who” playset is also expected to be released soon.
