Just to add to Dwayne Johnson’s impressive list of projects is another comic book crossover to the big screen.
The Rock is rumoured to play the character who can do it all – Doc Savage. This character is a physician, surgeon, scientist, inventor, explorer and even a musician.
Shane Black, the guy responsible for the success of “Iron Man 3,” is set to direct the Doc Savage film adaptation.
Slash Film reports that Black has been trying to make the movie work for quite a while. The original screenplay was written by black back in 2009 and in 2010, he also decided to be the director but not much has developed to the status of the film since then.
Speaking to Thrillist, “The Nice Guys” director revealed that he still wants to make the 30s pulp adventure but the film depends on if Johnson is on board for the project as he’s the only actor he wants to play Doc Savage.
“Doc Savage is sort of in the ether now. We’re hoping to make it sometime next year. I would very much like to do Doc with a fellow named Dwayne Johnson if we can make that work. I made a decision that Dwayne is the guy. It’s on the back burner while he’s busy,” Black said.
It seems like if ever Johnson would agree to play the role, it would still take quite a while as the actor has his hands full now with the big screen adaptation of “Baywatch,” “Fast 8,” “San Andreas 2,” and “Rampage.”
IGN reported that aside from Johnson, the writer/director previously wanted Thor star Chris Hemsworth to play the title character.
