New mother Sarah Saunders is seen smiling following the birth of her baby though the Do-It-Yourself caesarean, the video of which has gone viral.
The natural caesarean process allows a baby to push itself out of the mother’s womb instead of being pulled out by doctors. Saunders recorded the complete video where she saw her baby coming out of her womb partially without the doctors’ help. The process is also called skin-to-skin caesarean and it takes around four minutes for babies to be born as doctors are hardly involved in the process.
“Having a natural caesarean is the most incredible thing,” Sarah wrote under the video. “I wanted to share this video to show that if you are unable to give birth ‘naturally’ then having a natural caesarean is the next best thing. In this amazing video, my son delivers himself after the surgeon helps his head out. The team at Torbay were phenomenal and gave me a birth experience I will cherish forever.”
She also stated that her motive behind sharing this video to all is just to advise in case anyone from the viewers feel they would benefit from this Do-It-Yourself caesarean. According to the Daily Mail, most of the steps involved in the natural caesarean have been covered in Saunder’s delivery. Consultant midwife Belinda Green commented on the process. “So many women say the bond with their baby is stronger after a skin-to-skin caesarean, and there is evidence to suggest it reduces a number of complications after birth,” she said. “The demand for this type of birth continues to increase and I am constantly being contacted by women who want it.”
The Independent reported that after the Do-It-Yourself process, the baby is placed on the mother’s chest if she desires to breastfeed while the doctors complete the surgery. This increases the mother-child bond, according to experts.
