“Divergent: Allegiant” movie star Theo James revealed that he has a “cynical” family. Find out why.
During his interview with Flickering Myth, James was asked about his family’s support in his acting career. He explained that his family is a “jokingly cynical family”, sharing a story of his eldest brother mocking him on a love song he wrote.
“We’re a jokingly cynical family. I was 13 and I had written this really cheesy song that I wanted to sing. I sat him down and I had my guitar and I just opened my heart. I finished the song which was terrible, and he just burst out laughing,” he revealed.
“He still takes the piss out of me now, he calls it ‘Why?’ because it was all about why do I feel these things or something like that. You can’t take this stuff too seriously. If you start taking yourself or it too seriously I think it can be damaging.”
Despite his revelation, the 30-year-old star noted that his family is, of course, very important to him.
Aside from his family, Theo James also talked about his experiences in filming “Divergent: Allegiant.”
Movie News Guide reported that he and co-actress Shailene Woodley “felt awkward” on the set.
“One thing Shai and I found is that when you come back after a year and at first you think it’s fine because we’ve done these characters, it’s all good, then you get on set and you do that first scene and it’s like oh. It doesn’t just come back, you’ve got to click into gear,” he told Flickering Myth as well.
Veronica Roth’s “Divergent” series features protagonists Theo James as Tobias Eaton (also known as Four) and Shailen Woodley as Beatrice Prior (also known as Tris).
The first part of the movie “Divergent: Allegiant” will kick off in theaters on March 18, 2016.
