The first part adaptation of Veronica Roth’s “Allegiant” may not be out until spring of 2016, but Lionsgate has been kind enough to tease fans with material from the upcoming film.
According to Screen Rant, the most recent of these materials are two new posters featuring the series’ leads Beatris “Tris” Prior (Shailene Woodley) and Tobias “Four” Eaton (Theo James). The website details that the two new posters follow Lionsgate’s release of a teaser, then a full-length trailer, and a poster for the movie.
In one of the posters, Tris can be seen hugging Four with a worried look on her face. The from the shot, only Four’s back–and his neck tattoos–are prominently seen.
Meanwhile, the other poster that features Four seem to be the other side of the first poster. In the shot, Four is hugging Tris and his face and expression, as well as Tris’ back, are the only things visible.
Screen Rant takes note that the two posters may be a nod to the source material of “The Divergent Series: Allegiant” because compared to the first two books in the series (which only featured Tris’ point of view), “Allegiant” was told in a shifting perspective between Tris and Four.
If indeed this is the point behind the new posters’ concept, it is also possible that the upcoming film will have a different storytelling treatment. However, considering the grave expressions between the two characters, it is also possible that the film will incorporate a different elements from the books–perhaps a betrayal between Tris and Four.
On the other hand, Entertainment Weekly points out that the two posters feature different quotes from the two characters. EW quotes the two posters as follows:
“I become better, sharper, every time I touch him.”
“The person you became with her is worth being.”
“Allegiant” will feature the story’s characters venturing out of the fence to discover why they were isolated there in the first place.
“The Divergent Series: Allegiant”, which stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Miles Teller, Zoe Kravitz, and Ansel Elgort, is scheduled to premiere on March 18, 2016.
