‘Divergent Allegiant’ Movie: Kissing Scenes were ‘Hard’ & ‘Honest’ says Theo James

“Divergent: Allegiant” stars Theo James and Shailene Woodley’s on-screen chemistry seems irrefutable. But despite the fact that they already have real-life partners, Theo James just loves to kiss his co-star. The actor revealed his kissing scene experience as “hard and honest.”

In a talk with Entertainment Wise, James, who plays Four in the film, seems “too happy” in discussing his first kiss with Woodley, who plays Tris.

“I just went at it hard, to be honest, because I thought that’s how she wanted it. I thought to assuage any awkwardness I would just go for it. She was kind of batting away my hands,” he revealed.

“I just wanted to practice the kissing scene with Shai as much as possible. I’d say ‘Listen, after dinner we could just go over that scene again.'”

The actor also noted that he wanted it to be real rather than just being “cheesy.” He also said that after the first awkward smooching scene, the second take went smoother and more intricate.

More than the kissing scene experience, James joked about the “sex scenes” with the actress.

“The full penetration sex was also very awkward.”

Kidding aside, James seriously explained the mixed feeling of excitement and nervousness in meeting the casts for the first time, and how their friendship grew during the film production. Much like his friendship with Woodley.

On the other hand, movie fans who are hopeful for Tris and Four’s happy ending might get disappointed to learn that the author, Veronica Roth, decided to stick with the novel’s ending.

But who knows? Maybe not on the book’s finale, but Theo James and Shailene Woodley’s fans are still hopeful that their on-screen romance will soon become a reality.

“Divergent: Allegiant” premieres on March 18, 2016.
