Attention “Divergent Allegiant” fans! Author Veronica Roth hinted that there might be an alternate ending for the film as she reportedly said that there are “going to be some changes.”
Warning. Possible spoilers ahead.
In a previous report, a different ending had been suggested which could have a happy ending for Tris and Four. While the book revealed that Tris will die in the end, fans have created a petition in Change.org entitled “Let Tris Live in The End.” The campaign has a thousand supporters as of this moment.
However, “Divergent” stars Shailene Woodley as Tris, and Theo James as Four, agreed with Roth’s decision to stick with the original story.
This time, the successful novelist could be changing her mind.
MTV notes that the titles for Part 1 and 2 have been changed. Part 1 would be “The Divergent Series: Allegiant”, while Part 2 would be “The Divergent Series: Ascendant.” The taglines are “Break the Boundaries of Your World” and “The End Is Never What You Expect,” respectively.
Could these changes signify that Tris will be alive in the end? We do not know yet, but Roth addressed this hanging question with a cryptic answer.
“What does this mean? Well, basically, it means there are going to be some changes. But it’s really too early to know exactly what those changes will be or the extent of them,” Roth wrote on her Tumblr account.
“I know changes always make fans of the books – and the author! – nervous, but hopefully the characters we know (and love. Or sometimes love to hate?) will still be intact, which is really the important thing. I am eager to see how these movies turn out, along with you guys,” the author added.
This might be an exciting change for all the fans who want to see Tris live in the finale. But we still have to wait for the movie, though.
“Divergent: Allegiant” premieres on March 18, 2016.
