To the shock of fans, Devious Maids season 5 won’t happen after its official cancellation. Given that season 4 ended in a cliffhanger, the cancellation of the show would leave a deep hole to its viewers. However, is their still a glimmer of hope for the Lifetime series? Will the network allow a movie to wrap things up?

At this point, there’s no word yet on how Lifetime would deal about the show’s unfinished business. It is important to note though that many cancelled shows before ended with a cliffhanger without any extension or resolution.

This could certainly be Devious Maid‘s fate, if not for theories and hopes of the fans.

In an article by TV Line reporting on the cancellation, the comments section gathers interesting insights.

Most users who commented aired out their frustrations. Majority expressed that the cancellation was so sudden. Meanwhile, other fans said that they loved the show but weren’t surprised by the axing. There were many other views, but majority expressed disappointment.

Devious Maids season 5 possibility still open?

Nevertheless, some fans aren’t giving up hope yet. These fans offer different possibilities which can give Devious Maids a proper send-off.

One user named Yolanda offered that Lifetime could still do a movie to close that cliff-hanger ending. She cited HBO’s Looking as an example.

True enough, the series about a group of friends in San Francisco only lasted two seasons. Nevertheless, the network allowed for a movie special to wrap the series up. The special aired this year.

However, if a movie is too much, the same user suggested that Lifetime could give the series to another network just to air one last season. El Rey Network, TLC or VH1 were the suggestions given.

Another, and a more controversial, theory by a fan suggested that the cancellation is fake.

A user who goes by the name Rod had this to say about Lifetime’s announcement:

“Lifetime is doing the same thing they did with Drop Dead Diva, they cancelled it just to make headlines and are gonna bring it back, just wait a couple of weeks.”

Still, although these thoughts are very promising, the final say lies with Lifetime.
