Descendants of the Sun actor Song Joong-Ki stirred some buzz after it was reported that he has shaved his head in preparation for his upcoming movie, Battleship Island.
The 31-year-old actor revealed during a fan meeting that he’s “planning to shave his head” for his next movie project. While some of his fans were shocked by the news, many were amazed by his dedication to his work.
However, a photo of the actor wearing a hat that completely covered his head added fuel to the flame. The photo, which was shared on Song Joong-Ki’s official fan club, raised suspicion that he may have already chopped off his locks.
However, the million dollar question was answered when another photo of the actor surfaced on the internet, Asia Times reported. In this recent photo, Song Joong-Ki appears to have kept his full patch of hair, contrary to speculations.
In the meantime, Song Joong-Ki begins filming for Battleship Island in June together with co-stars Hwang Jung-Min and So Ji-Sub.
Battleship Island is set during Japan’s occupation of Korea and tells the story of the 400 Korean citizens who attempted to escape being forcibly drafted into the military in the midst of the conflict, KDramastars reports.
Song Joong-Ki makes his long-awaited return to the big screen with Battleship Island, where he takes on the role of the leader of freedom fighters who storm a warship in an effort to rescue the frontrunners of the fight for independence.
The period film once again puts Song Joong-Ki’s acting and action skills on the plate after receiving favorable reviews for his performance as Captain Yoo Shi-Jin of the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Descendants of the Sun. Battleship Island will be directed by Ryoo Seung-wan and will be released in 2017. Descendants of the Sun also stars Song Hye-kyo, Kim Ji-won, and Jin Goo.
