Marvel’s “The Defenders” plan on Netflix is still a long way to go. While the known players for this planned Avengers-esque outing are Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, could additional players be involved? Could another story line from the comics be integrated to a Defenders Netflix showcase?

Unfortunately, no concrete news confirming the matter exists. However, a deep analysis from Comic Book Movie throws the possibility out there.

The source meticulously extracts the details out of the “Doctor Strange” prequel comic. It highlights that the names Daniel Drumm and Tina Minoru stand out for their connections with other known Marvel characters. Here’s how Comic Book Movie describes the two characters:

“They’re minor Marvel comics characters with ties to more well-known superheroes. In Daniel’s case, he’s the elder brother of Jericho Drumm aka Doctor Voodoo, a powerful magician in his own right who at one point, replaced Strange as the Sorcerer Supreme. Tina Minoru is the mother of Niko Minoru, one of the main characters from Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona’s The Runaways.”

MovieWeb relays that Daniel Drumm’s appearance may hint at what’s to come in Phase 4 of the MCU. Since his brother has ties to the mystical realm, it is interpreted that Phase 4 may go with this path.

On the other hand, the website thinks that a Netflix potential could exist for “The Runaways”, if not in the big screen. Although this is closer to wishful thinking than a concrete possibility, the idea cannot be dismissed. After all, if “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones” serve as basis, Marvel has a good relationship with Netflix.

Defenders Netflix updates

Meanwhile, the Defenders Netflix news front is kind of slow, but here’s what we’ve gathered so far:

1. “Daredevil” showrunners Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez serves the same role for “The Defenders”
2. Production starts toward the end of the year
3. Mephisto is the front runner in terms of “The Defenders” villain rumors
