With Dark Souls 3 available in the market and fans still having a hard time finishing it, From Software has revealed that there are three more DLCs waiting for these brave warriors in the coming months, along with the developers’ plan to focus on a new IP.
Game developer From Software has revealed that they are currently developing a game that is for a new IP, according to Dark Souls 3 director Hidetaka Miyazaki in an interview with Chinese website GNN Gamer. You can read the translated version of the interview at the NeoGAF thread.
Miyazaki has mentioned the following from his interview:
“Dark Souls 3 will have several DLCs like previous games. But there is absolutely no plan right now for any sequels, spin-offs, or tie-ins. But I cannot say for certain that the possibility is zero percent. For example, if a From Software developer comes to me five years from now and begged, ‘please let me make another Dark Souls,‘ then I will not rule out the possibility to let my subordinates start a new project.
“What is certain for now is, to me personally Dark Souls is over. So rather than make another sequel, I think it’s time we take a step to a new direction. Development of a new IP has already begun.”
This means that there will be additional content for Dark Souls 3; however, any future “Dark Souls” game is uncertain as From Software will be focusing on new IPs.
On the other hand, when asked for a possible remaster of “Demon Souls,” Miyazaki closed it with a “we want to try making new things” remark—meaning, they are not planning for a remaster yet. However, when asked for a possible new “Armored Core” game, Miyazaki responded, “Personally, I want to do it. After all, I was involved in three games in the series. Armored Core is one of the pillars of From Software Software’s lineup. But I cannot yet reveal anything.”
Although vague, Miyazaki’s statement reveals that there is a chance that we can see an “Armored Core” game soon.
