Two of Marvel’s darkest superheroes will soon get to face off on live action TV. Daredevil will be crossing paths with The Punisher himself in Hell’s Kitchen when Netflix unleashes the second season of the critically acclaimed series this March.
“Daredevil’s” latest teaser is set to bring a darker, grittier storyline, as well as new threats for blind lawyer Matt Murdock, played by Charlie Cox. Ex-girlfriend with an axe to grind Elektra Natchios, played by Elodie Yung, and Frank Castle, aka The Punisher who’s played by Jon Bernthal, are both set to make an appearance.
Claire Temple (Night Nurse), played by Rosario Dawson, will also return for the upcoming season. The actress told MTV that The Punisher was similar to how Daredevil was back in Season 1 and she’s interested to see how Castle will affect Murdock.
Bernthal’s entry into the series as The Punisher would bring “dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock,” which would complement Dawson’s comment regarding the matter.
Meanwhile, things got a bit excited on Twitter as a new promo further teases Castle’s entry into the series, while Daredevil stands above Chinatown with fireworks lighting up the night sky.
While it doesn’t really give away much but that alone delivers a lot of hype, especially in a time where eager fans are still waiting in anticipation for other popular TV series such as “The Walking Dead,” “Better Call Saul,” and “Broad City” among others.
However, it looks like the screen time between Hornhead and the anti-hero will not be exclusive to the telly. Both heroes will be facing one another once again in the comic book universe in “Daredevil/Punisher” that’s slated for release on May 4, 2016. Additional information seems to be sparse at the moment, but the first cover of the series reveals Daredevil, all clad in black and red, with The Punisher striking a pose with his iconic skull shirt and an automatic rifle.
