The audience has to wait for a few more days before Dancing with the Stars Season 23 announces the official cast. However, as early as today, reports are speculating that Simone Biles and Zac Efron will be on the list.
Biles bagged five major awards during the 2016 Rio Olympics. She won four gold and a bronze for competing in four categories: all-around, vault, floor exercise and as part of the U.S. team’s win, and in the balance beam.
Since the limelight is all over her, reports are suggesting that the DWTS production team is eyeing the Olympian. According to a source from US Magazine, Biles is one of the top picks.
Should the rumor hold true, Biles will be one of the successful athletes who will join the competition. Previously, speed skater Apolo Ohno won in Season 4 and gymnast Shawn Johnson won in Season 8 and was runner-up in All Stars Season 15.
Additionally, ice dancer Meryl Davis ended up on top in Season 18. Meanwhile Biles’ U.S. gymnastics teammate Aly Raisman placed fourth in Season 16.
On the other hand, Dancing with the Stars Season 23 may be hitting two birds with a stone. Biles has been open about crushing on Zac Efron, and the show might be interested in casting him as well.
Aside from bagging the medals, the 19-year-old gymnast also received a kiss 0n the cheek from the 28-year-old heartthrob. She even posted their meeting on the Today Show on Twitter.
However, Biles and Efron’s involvement in the upcoming contest still remains a rumor. Dancing with the Stars Season 23 casting director Deena Katz shares some hints for the next chapter.
“I’ve talked to a lot of Olympians but, unfortunately for them, I can’t really lock someone in so it’s kind of like putting that call out and then they’re all just waiting,” quotes Buddy TV.
Casting announcement will be on Aug. 30 so stay tuned.
