“Dancing With the Stars” pro Mark Ballas has rocked the dance floor for 18 consecutive seasons. Now with an injured back, the dancer might bow out of the upcoming “Dancing with the Stars” Season 23. So who will replace him? Will his injury lead him to quit the show?
“I’m not sure yet,” Mark Ballas told People magazine while discussing whether he would compete in “Dancing with the Stars” Season 23. “This [season] just finished and my back still hurts. Thinking that far ahead is kind of … you know, it’s hard.”
Now that it is confirmed that his back is still not in tip-top shape, fans are left with these questions: Will Mark Ballas sit out “Dancing With the Stars” season 23? If the 30-year-old dancer and choreographer doesn’t return, who would take his spot? Mark Ballas has someone in mind.
“I don’t know. They do a great job of picking people that are entertaining and fun,” he said. “If I could have anyone it would be Shakira. She’s, like, my No. 1 choice. I think she would be amazing.”
During “Dancing With the Stars” season 22, Mark Ballas was sidelined from the competition after injuring his back during Week 2 rehearsals. His partner Paige VanZant had to perform their routine with troupe member Alan Bersten, as reported by Inquisitr.
“I’m hopeful I’ll be back,” he told show co-host, Erin Andrews. “I want to be there with her. She’s fantastic.” The dancer pushed himself to be back in the ballroom the next week. And the week after that and so forth. So now, his body is clearly paying the price.
It should also be mentioned that Mark Ballas is engaged and the wedding date has not been set. It is likely that Mark Ballas will sit out of “Dancing with the Stars” season 23 and choose that time to plan his wedding with his bride-to-be.
