Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is working hard to get fit enough for the upcoming Spanish La Liga season. While his team gets ready to play the UEFA Super Cup without him, Ronaldo gets a little help from his son as he gets his fitness level up.

Five-year-old Cristiano Jr. figures prominently in his famous father’s Instagram account this week as the two of them spend some quality time together. In one video, Ronaldo shares a part of his fitness regimen with his son. Ronaldoo could be seen on a stationary bike while his son spends some time on the treadmill.

Despite putting his child through a rigorous workout, it appears that Ronaldo didn’t forget that children must also have fun. “We’re done with the ice cream, now it’s time to work baby!,” he said. The pair of them also enjoyed a nap together as seen in another post.

While still unable to join the rest of Real Madrid for training, it appears that Cristiano Ronaldo is determined to stay in top shape. He is missing Real Madrid’s UEFA Super Cup clash against Sevilla on Tuesday and is also likely to miss the opening match of La Liga. Team manager Zinedine Zidane has already called for patience, saying that it is best for Ronaldo to fully recover for the long season ahead.

The Portugal captain needs to recover from the strain of a very successful season. He played through injury to help Real Madrid win their eleventh UEFA Champions League Trophy in May. His current knee injury came from a nasty tackle in the Euro 2016 final, where Portugal won against France.

His stellar performance last season has earned Ronaldo a nomination as one of the top three best players in Europe. He is in contention for the title against Real Madrid teammate Gareth Bale and city rival Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid.
