Actor Shemar Moore has officially said goodbye to “Criminal Minds.” Is it time for us to prepare to say goodbye to the whole series as well? Has the show’s season 12 really been cancelled?
News of the show’s cancellation has yet to be confirmed. However, Moore is indeed leaving the show. So, why did he decide to walk away from his character Derek Morgan?
The Emmy-award winning actor sat down with TV Line to explain his side. “I’m leaving because I want to continue to grow as an actor. I’m leaving to see what else I’m capable of,” he told TV Line. “I need balance in my life. I love what I do for a living. I love it from ‘action’ to ‘cut’, but I also want to walk my dogs, travel, get married, have kids. I want balance, and it’s hard to do with the schedule that we have.”
However, in an interview with CBS, the actor did admit he will miss the show. “I have grown through Derek Morgan and through these years at ‘Criminal Minds,'” Moore told CBS. “I’ll miss it. I’ll miss Derek. I already do.”
According to TV Line, Moore’s final episode on the show was directed by cast mate Matthew Gray Gubler. Their co-actor Kirsten Vangsness meanwhile co-wrote the episode with showrunner Erica Messer.
The CBS hit show has lost several stars in its decade long run. It had to trudge through the exits of Mandy Patinkin, A.J. Cook and Paget Brewster. Now, the show has lost Shemar Moore too.
Cook did return eventually. And Brewster has appeared as a special guest in the past. Do you think Moore could still come back? More importantly, will the show be cancelled soon? The premiere date of “Criminal Minds” Season 12 has yet to be confirmed. Stay tuned for updates.
