Actress Margot Robbie ‘punched’ co-star Alexander Skarsgård after being prompted to ‘just slap’ him while they were making love during a scene from David Yates’ “The Legend of Tarzan.” However, the feisty Australian’s light tap bruised Skarsgård.
Director David Yates was clear about what he was looking for when he started searching for Jane. According to Movieweb, the “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” director was looking for someone who could have a sizzling chemistry with the leading man as well as hold her own. The Jane he envisioned was not a ‘damsel in distress,’ but a true fighter who could survive in the jungles of Congo.
Yates was also cautious about being archaic or dated and Skarsgård wanted to do away with the ‘tough guy has to save the poor girl’ cliché, states Us Weekly. He wanted the viewers to understand that Jane is strong and independent and “The Wolf of Wall Street” actress fit the bill perfectly.
Celeb Buzz informs that Robbie brought the required strength and resolve to the table as Jane. “If you enter the jungle with anybody, you want to go with Margot Robbie,” Yates declared. “She’s practical, and she’s smart, and she’s resourceful. And she can take care of herself,” he added.
Us Weekly informs that it was important for Robbie to portray Jane’s feistiness. Hence, Yates himself requested her just slap her co-star while filming the lovemaking scene. “They’re doing this love scene together, and I said [to Robbie], ‘Just slap Alex while you’re making love, just kind of give him a punch,’” Yates said. “It was sort of an earthy, sensual moment of her enjoying sex with Alex, and the only bruise he picked up during the entire shoot was probably that punch from Margot. Which says a lot about her feistiness,” he added.
