Marvel Studios has become more or less the de facto rulers in the superhero movie genre, with various popular Marvel comics’ superheroes being successfully adapted into super hit movies. “Doctor Strange” is one such highly anticipated superhero property getting a movie this year, with “Sherlock” star Benedict Cumberbatch himself cast as the titular sorcerer. Video footage from the London sets of Doctor Strange has leaked showing Cumberbatch and Chiwetel Ejiofor at work.
The videos showing Cumberbatch waltzing around in his “Doctor Strange” costume with his red cape flowing behind him was released via the Twitter feed Anything Cumberbatch. Previously, photos of Cumberbatch in full costume were released.
In the caption to the tweet, the poster praised costume designer Alexandra Byrne. “So happy we got this today, well done marvel costume designer, u got it so right, Cumberbatch is a perfect drstrange.” Watch it below.

“Doctor Strange” tells the story of neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Vincent Strange, a brilliant but egotistical doctor who is only interested in the wealth acquired from his medical career. Following a car accident, the bones of his hands are shattered, eventually ending his ability to perform surgeries as his hands now tremble uncontrollably. Strange is too proud of himself to become a teacher and instead begins a desperate search for ways to restore the use of his hands. He consults doctors, undergoes homeopathic treatments, and travels around the world to remote regions for exotic cures, but to no avail. Eventually, Strange is able to locate a hermit in the Himalayas, called the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) who eventually takes him as an apprentice and imparts training in the mystical arts.
“Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange’ also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo, a character Ejiofor describes as “very complex” in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
Rachel McAdams is playing a fellow surgeon to Strange. According to Kevin Feige, McAdams’ character is a “lynchpin to his old life” and someone who “helps anchor his humanity.” McAdams revealed earlier that most of her scenes are with Cumberbatch. She is likely to be the love interest of Strange as well.
Mads Mikkelsen plays “a sorcerer who breaks off into his own sect” from the Ancient One, according to Feige.
Last but not the least, Tilda Swinton plays The Ancient One, who trains Strange in the mystical arts. Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme was originally a male character, but the producers decided to make the character ambiguous by making The Ancient One a mantle inhabited by many. “There have been multiple [Ancient Ones], even if this one has been around for five hundred years, there were others. This is a mantle, and therefore felt we had leeway to cast in interesting ways,” Feige told Devin Faraci of Birth.Movies.Death.
“Doctor Strange,” directed by Scott Derrickson, opens in cinemas worldwide beginning October 26 this year.
