Production for Netflix’s upcoming Marvel series Iron Fist is now underway, and casting revelations are getting big.
Game of Thrones actor Finn Jones has been confirmed to star as Danny Rand aka Iron Fist, a crime-fighting superhero skilled in the ways of mystical martial arts.
Joining Jones are 90210 star Jessica Stroup and Banshee alum Tom Pelphrey, Variety reports. Stroup plays Joy Meachum and Pelphrey portrays her brother, Ward Meachum. They have been billed has regular cast members on Marvel’s Iron Fist.
The Meachum siblings spell trouble for Iron First. Their father, Harold Meachum (David Wenham), is business partners with Rand’s father. After their deaths, Joy and Ward Meachum take over to build up the company. Danny returns to New York City to claim his birthright, but the Meachums make it clear that his role in Rand Enterprises is not welcome.
“I’m very happy to have Jessica and Tom as our Joy and Ward Meachum,” said Scott Buck, the show’s executive producer and showrunner. “Much like Danny Rand’s past is a mystery to us, we’ll discover along the way that the Meachum children have intriguing secrets of their own.”
Jessica Henwick, popularly known for playing Nymeria Sand in Game of Thrones, will appear as Colleen Wing. According to Screen Crush, Wing is an “invaluable ally” to Iron Fist. She’s also a skilled warrior and detective.
Finn Jones’ Iron Fist will also appear in Marvel’s The Defenders where he joins Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), and Luke Cage (Mike Colter) to form Hell Kitchen’s very own superhero group. The Defenders will be helmed by Daredevil Season 2 showrunners Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez. As of this writing, Netflix has not released a tentative release date for Iron Fist and The Defenders.
Luke Cage will premiere on Netflix on September 30.
