Selena Gomez broke down in tears during her Revival Tour concert on June 11, a day after her longtime friend, Christina Grimmie, was shot and killed by a deranged fan. The “Same Old Love” singer dedicated a song to the late YouTube sensation and “The Voice” star, fighting back tears as she sang a moving version of Hillsong Worship’s song “Transfiguration” in memory of Christina Grimmie.
Daily Mail reports that Christina Grimmie was only 16 when she opened for the North American leg of the Selena Gomez “We Own the Night Tour,” and she performed nine dates on the singer’s “Stars Dance Tour” in 2013. Christina Grimmie and Selena Gomez extended their professional relationship and became good friends in real life.
During the “Kinect: Disneyland Adventures” and Kinect Sports 2 campaign, the duo steered away from the microphone and channeled their inner gamer instead as they tried out the New Xbox 360 Kinect console back in 2011, as reported by Just Jared.
“Basically [we’re] promoting the new Kinect Sports 2 and Disneyland Adventure Kinect game. The lucky winner gets to come out to LA and we can play Kinect together and they get their own Kinect and XBox for themselves. It’s fun and I think it’ll be different and I get to do something with my fans.” Selena Gomez said.
Here are 3 unforgettable moments of Selena Gomez and Christina Grimmie from the campaign:
1. As Football Stars
The pair played against Selena Gomez’ band, The Scene, and it appears that Gomez and Grimmie are not just great on stage, but they also have a talent in sports, virtually.
2. Their Disneyland Adventure
With Selena Gomez drowning in her busy schedule, Christina Grimmie suggested that she needed time off and enjoy a fun day without having to leave home. The girls were then joined by The Scene who were wearing their Disneyland outfits, probably not knowing that they’re not actually going to Disneyland.
3. As Tennis Champions
Christina Grimmie and Selena Gomez had a fun tennis match with The Scene and they ended up beating the boys! The two looked cute together wearing their tennis skirts and sun visors as if they were really playing at the court.
