Former cult leader Charles Manson has been taken to hospital due to his deteriorating health. Manson is famous for influencing his followers to kill seven people in the late 60s. He has been in prison since 1971 for his involvement in the back-to-back killings.
Up until now, his supporters still believe that their leader is innocent. The prisoner has been shifted from California’s Corcoran State Prison to a Bakersfield hospital for treatment on Tuesday. The ailment Manson is suffering from has still been kept secret.
“He’s been getting treatment at that hospital for a while,” a source from the corrections department told a media outlet on Wednesday. “I was told months ago they removed him from the prison for an undisclosed illness.”

Manson used to run a drug and sex-fueled community. He is believed to have inspired his followers for serial killings. The leader and his group of fans were arrested and charged with murdering actress Sharon Tate and her hair stylist Jay Sebring. The actress was pregnant at the time she was murdered. Other victims of Charles Manson and followers were student Steven Parent, writer Wojciech Frykowski, coffee heiress Abigail Folger and supermarket owner Leno LaBianca and wife, Rosemary.
The former cult master killed the targets in just two days. The case being known as the Manson Family murders. Manson, currently 82-year-old, has been serving 9 life sentences for plotting against killing people in 1969. The followers and Manson himself stabbed the victims and wrote words like “pig” and “Helter Skelter” in blood on walls and doors, according to International Business Times.
Manson and his group were earlier ordered the death penalty. But later the order was amended to life imprisonment because of some legal scuffles. Charles Manson requested for a parole for the 12th time in 2012 but legal authorities refused the request.
