Chelsea will travel to the French capital to meet Paris Saint Germain in their first leg round 16 encounter of the Champions League at the Parc Des Princes on Tuesday, Feb. 16, starting 19:45 GMT. The game will be aired live on BT Sport.
As per the Mirror reports, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, captain Thiago Silva and Thiago Motta, have been recalled for the upcoming encounter. Serge Aurier has been suspended by the club following his homophobic remarks made about Laurent Blanc.
In a big blow to John Terry’s Champions League ambitions, he has been ruled out with a knee injury which makes him unavailable for the upcoming clash, notes the BBC. However, Brazilian midfielder Oscar returns to take the field after his calf injury.
Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink commented on John Terry’s absence, “He was having too much trouble to travel.”
“Even to try tomorrow… We made a test this morning and didn’t work out well, so the decision was made to leave him at home.”
“He was, himself, also convinced he could not be of worth to the team at the moment. He has a bit of a problem on his hamstring and on the tendon in that area.”
Chelsea will be looking to start their round 16 campaign with an away win as Guus Hiddink’s style of play has really suited the Blues. According to the Telegraph, PSG will be banking on their home advantage to gain an upper hand over Chelsea. De Costa and Cahill are in prime form as they look to void left by Terry.
