Celine Dion welcomed 2016 by covering one of Adele’s hit song “Hello” at Las Vegas.

In a video uploaded on YouTube by a member of the audience, Dion can be heard saying: “If I may, I would like Adele to be part of our New Year’s Eve. Don’t panic, she’s not in the building. …Do we need to change the battery in my microphone? It kind of lost it a bit. Adele, hello? Hello?”

Then the Canadian singer broke singing “Hello!” and the audience went wild.

It’s not a secret that Dion is a huge fan of Adele and had covered several of her songs in the past.  To many, Dion nailed “Hello” and her rendition beats her idol’s original pop ballad.

Dion revealed to Entertainment Tonight that it was her husband, René Angélil, who really pushed her to take the stage once again.

“We don’t know what the future holds,” she admitted to Entertainment Tonight and added that her husband told her to be “back, strong, [to] do it, still share your passion.”

After taking a year-long break to take care of René, who is battling throat cancer, the “My Heart Will Go On” singer started performing again middle of last year.

Dion told USA Today: “I didn’t want to be here at first, I don’t need it. Don’t get me wrong, I love singing for people, but I have priorities. But my biggest job is to tell my husband, we’re fine. I’ll take care of our kids. You’ll watch us from another spot.”

“We have asked [doctors] many times, how long does he have, three weeks, three months? René wants to know,” “But they say they don’t know.” said Dion.

The couple married 20 years ago and have three kids – René-Charles and the twins Nelson and Eddy.

Celine and René, 73, are currently living at their home in Las Vegas.
