Has Benedict Cumberbatch been cast in “Captain Marvel?” Is his Marvel character “Doctor Strange” set to make an appearance in the upcoming film?
According to Inquisitr, the British actor has signed on to appear in the next superhero flick. Below, we round up all the reasons why the actor is perfect to join “Captain Marvel.”
1. Marvel Thinks He’s a Perfect “Doctor Strange.”
According to Cinema Blend, Marvel really wanted Cumberbatch to play the iconic character. “They wanted him so badly…they decided to shift the production of the film around in order to fit his very busy schedule,” Cinema Blend reported. If Marvel thinks he’s perfect, then he must be.
2. The Actor Champions Girl Power.
“Captain Marvel” is all about girl power. And so is Cumberbatch. The upcoming movie is set to be “the first female-led Marvel superhero film” in over a decade. (The last one is “Elektra” in 2005.) And a man who chided his fans for calling themselves “Cumberbitches” couldn’t be more perfect to join in. According to Esquire, the actor “rejects the term” his loyal fans came up with. “It’s not even politeness. I won’t allow you to be my bitches. I think it sets feminism back so many notches. You are…Cumberpeople,” the “Sherlock” star earlier explained.
3. He Is “Very Excited” about Playing Doctor Strange.
“It’s a thrilling gig to get and I can’t wait,” the actor told Mirror.
4. Doctor Strange and Ant-Man on Screen Together?
According to Inquistr, Ant-Man is also set to appear in “Captain Marvel.” It might be interesting to see Paul Rudd and Benedict Cumberbatch in a movie together.
5. He’s Benedict Cumberbatch, Period.

“Captain Marvel” is scheduled to be released on March 8, 2019. Meanwhile, the actor’s standalone film, “Doctor Strange,” is set to hit theatres on November 4.
