Sebastian Stan has finally revealed the meaning of the end-credits appearance of Bucky Barnes on Marvel’s “Ant-Man” and its connection to the upcoming “Captain America: Civil War”.
Barnes, played by Stan, is Steve “Captain America” Rogers’ best friend who appeared in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” as a brainwashed assassin.
Slash Film recalled Bucky has his metal arm trapped in a vise in some kind of abandoned warehouse at the end of “Ant Man”. Captain America (Chris Evans) and Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), a.k.a Falcon, discuss what to do next. The duo can’t call Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) because of the Sokovia Accords that were placed following the events of “The Avengers: Age of Ultron.” That’s when Falcon says, “I know a guy,” cut to “Ant-Man will return.”
There have been speculations that Captain America and Falcon were the ones who caught Bucky and are now figuring out what to do him, but Stan teases that might not be the case.
“I think [what Bucky was caught in was] more of a vise. But it would never happen at his own hand, by his own doing,” Stan told BuzzFeed.
“In terms of that scene in ‘Ant-Man,’ I’ve seen some of the ideas people have about it and I would just say that whatever you’re seeing on the surface, it’s not as obvious as that. There might be a whole lot more to the scene. I would say someone would probably want to put him in a vise.”
Slash Film wrote that Ant-Man’s involvement might have something to do with his powers, including his shrinking abilities in order to free Bucky from the device he got trapped into.
The International Business Times reported Marvel is expected to release first official trailer of “Captain America: Civil War” at Disney’s D23 Expo 2015 on August 14-16 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
The teaser footage of the next “Captain America” installment has been unveiled at 2015 San Diego Comic Con last month.
Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” is set to hit cinemas on May 6, 2016.
